Educational Leadership and Instruction with concentration in Educational Technology

Charlotte served as a Special Education Technology Coordinator before beginning her position as a Region VI/IV AT Facilitator. Her responsibilities included supervision and assistance with technology training, budget preparation and purchasing, supervision of technology repairs and maintenance, and coordinating and implementing technology grants. She was a member of the parish Assistive Technology Team and is also a member of the Louisiana Assistive Technology Advisory Panel. She has participated in numerous technology trainings, including InTech, DiversiTech, UDL – Bridging the Gap, and a variety of AT workshops. Her certifications include Educational Technology Leadership, Computer Literacy, Supervisor of Student Teaching, and Mathematics.

DeWayne LaCaze


DeWayne LaCaze is a native of Natchitoches, Louisiana. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern State University in the area of Public Relations and Journalism. Continuing his education, he enrolled in the graduate program at NSU and obtained a Master’s Degree in History.

DeWayne began teaching in Coushatta, La. There he worked in the group home setting at the Ware Correctional Facility with special needs children. After a year he taught third to fifth grade resource students at Red River Elementary School. In 2004 he completed his plus 30 hours in the area of Special Education. In 2005 DeWayne moved back to Natchitoches and began teaching at George L. Parks Elementary School. At Parks, he taught second and third grade resource students. He is currently pursuing a Specialist Degree in the area of Special Education and Reading with an emphasis in technology.

DeWayne also teaches adjunct classes for Northwestern State University located Natchitoches, Louisiana. He teaches the introductory courses to American History. He has made the transition from a classroom teacher to an on-line instructor. Throughout his endeavors, he has incorporated the use of technology in the learning process. He feels the implementation and utilization of technology in the classroom is vital to the success of the students. DeWayne realizes we live in an ever changing society and technology is an important component of our every day existence.

Technology in the classroom can assist the teacher in various areas such as discipline and student engagement in the learning process. Incorporating technology in the classroom doesn’t happen immediately, it is a gradual process that grows with the teacher, as well as, the students. The role of the teacher is changing into that of a facilitator of learning; instead of the sole source of information. By joining the LATI team, He hopes to help and encourage other educators as they adapt technology into their everyday classroo

Tammy Dupre

Before becoming the Region IV AT Facilitator, Tammy taught students with severe/profound and mild/moderate disabilities on a middle school campus for nine years.  She worked extensively with the following products, IntelliTools, Boardmaker with Speaking Dynamically, AbleNet, News-2-You, and various touch talkers. She has actively participated in a variety of professional training in-services such as: Assistive Technology Assessment Training Project, IntelliShare Conference, PECS Workshop, Assistive Technology Workshop, and technology training in email and internet with Iberia Parish.  She has experience delivering oral and written presentations for various professional conferences including the NECC, LAHPRED, and LACUE.  Tammy served as the supervisor for Best Buddies Program at the middle school level, including attaining members, initiating and carrying out fundraisers, planning and executing field trips, community service projects and assisting in friendships between students with exceptionalities and their age appropriate peers.

Greg Beavers

Greg has been in technology most of his life. He began building electronic devices in his teens and quickly jumped on the computer bandwagon when they first appeared as a consumer item. In the late 90's he joined a local internet service as a Customer Support Technician. From there he went on to become Customer Support Manager and then Network Administrator where he was responsible for running the network as well as troubleshooting and repairing internet appliances statewide. He joined the Rapides Parish School Board as a Special Education Technician where his interest in assistive technology brought him to the Region 6 and 4 Center for Assistive Technology.

Diane Sallinger

Diane joins the Region VI/IV Center for Assistive Technology staff as office manager. She comes to us with 33 years of office management experience. Diane has worked as a substitute teacher, a special education paraprofessional and as a secretary of a special education resource center where her duties included registration for all computer lab and paraprofessional testing, giving tours of the facility, and office support for supervisory personnel. While working with a contracting agency for the State Department of Education Family Day Care Home Program, her duties included full charge accounting, monitoring and training of family day care home providers, and office management.
