About Us

Mission Statement

The mission of the Centers for Assistive Technology in Regions 4 and 6 is to foster the development of general knowledge regarding assistive technology and to promote the use of assistive technology for students with disabilities, therefore increasing their access to the general curriculum, social and vocational experiences.

GOALS

• To provide training in the basic knowledge of assistive technology and its effective utilization in academic and social settings to students, educators, family members and community leaders.
• To assist LATI regarding consistent guidelines involving assessment and implementing assistive technology services for students with disabilities.
• To implement follow-up procedures, to collect data for the purpose of improving training opportunities and assistive technology utilization.
• To provide collaboration with local agencies, universities and LEA's for the inclusion of assistive technology in the curriculum and service options.

Region 6 services the following parishes: Avoyelles, Grant, LaSalle, Natchitoches, Rapides, Sabine, Vernon and Winn.
Region 4 services the following parishes: Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Martin, St. Landry and Vermilion
